FTC versus FRC, what is the difference?
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) are two different programs offered by FIRST for students interested in robotics. These programs differ in several aspects, such as team size, robot size, field size, cost, and complexity. FRC teams can have up to 100 members, and their robots can weigh up to 125 pounds and stand 4 feet tall, while FTC teams can have up to 15 members, and their robots can weigh up to 42 pounds and stand 18 inches tall. The FRC fields are larger and more complex than FTC fields. Due to their larger team and robot size, FRC teams require a higher budget than FTC teams. Both programs offer students opportunities to develop their STEM skills and engage in robotics competitions. However, the specifics of each program may suit different interests and resources.
Why is this important?
We believe that learning about Robotics helps our communities' children in numerous ways. Read more here.
